Welcome to the Acton Minor Hockey Association (AMHA) Acton Tanners Web Site.

The AMHA is an Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) BB centre providing hockey opportunities for players interested in playing Representative hockey from the Novice through Juvenile levels within the Tri-County Hockey League.

This web site will provide useful information to players and parents participating within the AMHA. The web site will provide information on upcoming events and schedules as well as association contacts, constitution, etc. Please visit our Sponsor page and patronize our community/sweater sponsors.

Acton Minor Hockey Association Tanner Rep System Gearing Up For Another Season

 

The Acton Tanner rep organization is gearing up for another busy hockey season. The first date for try-outs are scheduled for Monday, August 25 at the Acton Arena and Community Centre with the Novices (5 to 8 year olds) starting at 6:00 p.m., the Atoms (9 and 10 year olds) on the ice at 7:00 p.m. and Peewees (11 and 12 year olds) on at 8:00 p.m.

 

The next evening, Tuesday, August 26 the Bantams (13 and 14 year olds) will be on the ice at 7:00 p.m., with the Minor Midgets (15 & 16 year olds) on at 8:00 p.m. and the Major Midgets (16 and 17 year olds) going at 9:00 p.m.

 

All players must be registered with Acton Minor Hockey Association or Acton Houseleague Hockey Association to be eligible to try-out and before they are permitted on the ice. Try-out fees are $60.00 per player, which includes 4 try-outs from novice to bantam and 3 try-outs for midget. This fee also includes 3 player development sessions being put on by Jeff Clarke from All-Star Hockey Development. These Player Development sessions will take place on September 06, 13 and 20. All registered players of all ages are encouraged to come out. The focus of these sessions will be power skating, puck control, passing, shooting, team tactics and proper body contact skills for the older ages.

The Tanner organization is still looking for sweater sponsors at the novice, atom and pewee levels. Coaching positions are still vacant at the peewee AE and Bantam AE divisions. If you are interested in coaching or would be willing to help out as a team official as an assistant coach, manager or trainer please call 519-853-5965.

 

The Tri-County hockey season starts the week of September 22. The Tanners are icing 9 rep teams this season starting with Novice BB, Atom BB, Atom AE, Peewee BB, Peewee AE, Bantam BB, Bantam AE, Minor Midget BB and Major Midget BB. It has been several years since the Tanners iced a major midget team.

Do your coaches/trainers need to obtain their certification prior to the start of the 2008/09 hockey season?

 The Recreation & Parks Department in conjunction with the OMHA are offering  a number of training opportunities (see attached)  for our hockey associations to begin this September. 

 Registrations will be accepted starting June 15, 2008.

 Fund-raising idea for Acton Minor Hockey Association.

Acton Sports  is going to donate $0.50  from every skate sharpening done in the store by an Acton Tanner player to the Tanner organization.

Please go there for your skate sharpening  and help raise funds for our Association.
